Athletics: Irish Trio Set for BUPA Great Edinburgh Cross Country on Saturday

Fionnuala Britton (Kilcoole AC), Michael Mulhare (Portlaoise AC) and David McCarthy (West Waterford AC) will take part in the Bupa Great Edinburgh Cross Country this Saturday, 11th of January as part of “Team Europe”.

The annual fixture features teams from Britain, Europe and the USA, the Irish athletes were selected for “Team Europe” based on their impressive performance’s at the SPAR European Cross Country Championships in Belgrade on December 8th.

Britton will have revenge in mind as she goes up against the 2014 European Cross Country Champion Sophie Duarte of France.

Britton had a confidence boosting run last weekend when she finished fourth in a high class field at the Antrim cross country international. Mulhare also impressed in Antrim by finishing seventh in the men’s race and along with McCarthy will be out to secure victory for the European squad in Edinburgh.
