Athletics: Joe Gough Crowned World Masters 800m Champion

Joe Gough (West Waterford AC) has won the World Master 800m World Masters Indoor Championships in Budapest on Friday, March 28th.

Gough competing in the over 60 age category won the 800m title in a time of 2.15.08.Gough stormed around the last 200m in 30 seconds to clinch the title ahead of Nolan Shaheed (United States) second in 2.16.18 and Francois Martel (Canada) third in 2.18.98.

Joe is a member of the 44 strong Irish team that is competing at the championships which conclude this Sunday, 30th of March.
