Bray Garda Adam Nolan is out of the 2013 Elite AIBA World Championships having been defeated today by French champion, Souleymane Cissokho  in the preliminaries in Almaty.

Though it was undoubtedly a close encounter many of those in attendance and watching via live streaming worldwide felt that

Nolan had done enough to win the bout but the judges felt otherwise.

Brazilian Judge, Jones Kennedy Silva judged 30:27 in favour of the Wexford native but fellow judges Rovshan Huseynov called it 28:29 in favour of the Frenchman whilst Denmark’s Lars Brovil also had  Cissokho ahead 28:29  thus it was he who goes through on a split  2:1 decision.

After the fight Irish Head Coach Billy Walsh said:“Adam started off very well and clearly won the first round and felt he matched him well in the second and third rounds. We thought he had done enough but it didn’t go our way. We’re disappointed with the result, one of the judges called it his way but unfortunately it’s not been our night.”
