Boxing: Ireland take on mighty Russians in Dungarvan tonight

World boxing powerhouses Ireland and Russia will meet in a Youth Test Match in Dungarvan, Co.Waterford tonight.
Both sides, which have some of the top young boxers in the World in their ranks, meet at the Dungarvan Sports Centre.
Boxing begins at 7pm this evening. Gerry O’Mahony reports that the doors are open to the public and both teams will meet again on Tuesday evening (7pm) to round off a ten-day training camp.
The Irish squad includes most of the champions from last Friday’s Open Youth Championships.
The Russian team were at the National Stadium for finals night last weekend.
Team Ireland will travel to Anapa, Russia for a training camp with the Russians on February 12th.
The IABA and the Russian Federation are using the training camps in preparation for the AIBA World Men’s and Women’s Youth Championships in Bulgaria in April. The World Youths will act as the only qualifier for the Youth Olympic Games in China.

The Irish coach in Dungarvan are Billy McClean, Zaur Antia, Tom Hayes, Gerard McDaid and Ken Egan.
