Down v Monaghan: Live score commentary

Updated: June 24, 2012

We have live score commentary from Down v Monaghan in the Ulster Senior Football Championship semi final, 2pm Sunday 24th June, Morgan Athletic Ground

Down v Monaghan preview

Down will be looking to reach their first Ulster final since 2003 when they take on Monaghan at the Athletic Grounds on Sunday.

They lost that day to Tyrone after a replay and will be looking to make up for that almost a decade on against a Monaghan side who last reached the final in 2010 only to be hammered by Tyrone also.

The two sides last met in the championship five years ago when the Farney ran out three point winners and stopped Down getting five consecutive victories since 1990.

Dan Gordon and Benny Coulter will miss the game with foot and ankle injuries respectively for Down as they look to Conor Laverty and Donal O’Hare to provide the cutting edge up front.

Paul Finlay is fit to start for Monaghan despite coming off injured last time out while Tommy Freeman will have to settle for a place on the bench.

Down reached the semi-finals of the league in Division 1 while Monaghan were demoted to Division 3. On paper, it looks straight forward for Down but it will be no walk-over as Monaghan will make it difficult and expect the Mournemen to only pull away in the final quarter.
