Mayo v Leitrim preview

Connacht SFC Semi-Final, Sunday 24th June, Castlebar, 3.30pm

Mayo come into this match with Leitrim the hottest of favourites as they look to defend their Connacht crown.

An Taoiseach and proud Mayoman, Enda Kenny, will be on hand to open the re-developed Elverys McHale Park and cheer on his county, who are playing their first game since losing to Cork in the Allianz National League Division 1 final almost three months ago.

Leitrim put in a good effort to beat London last time out and earned themselves a one point victory and will feel they have nothing to lose going to Castlebar.Daniel Beck, Enda Williams and Shane Moran all come into the visitors’ starting line-up.

The home side are still without the O’ Shea brothers while there is no place for Conor Mortimer as Mayo look to Jason Doherty and Alan Freeman to provide the firepower.

Leitrim are capable of springing shocks (last year’s win over Sligo) but Mayo should have far too much on the day and should win with ease.

Verdict – Mayo

Mayo – David Clarke, Kevin Keane, Ger Cafferkey, Keith Higgins, Lee Keegan, Donal Vaughan, Colm Boyle, Barry Moran, Danny Geraghty, Kevin McLoughlin, Cillian O’Connor, Alan Dillon, Alan Freeman, Andy Moran, Jason Doherty.
