Kildare 1-14 Meath 1-12

Kildare had to work harder than anticipated before seeing off Meath by two points, in their Allianz National Football League Division Two clash at Newbridge on Sunday.

Meath led early but a goal from John Doyle gave the home side the edge. They looked like maintaining this advantage right to the finish but were given a real fright when a Shane O’Rourke goal closed the gap late on.

It made for an exciting finish which saw Kieran McGeeney’s men emerge with the points that moved them up into second place in the table. Meath on the other hand, are facing almost certain relegation and it will take a huge effort from Seamus McEnaney to get the team right for the championship. .
