Cork and Wexford both make four changes

Updated: July 13, 2012

Jimmy Barry Murphy has rung the changes for the Rebels’ clash with the Model County in Thurles on Saturday evening.

Cork beat Offaly at Páirc Uí Chaoimh last weekend to eventually complete a comfortable seven point win, though the first 50 minutes of that clash were anything but comfortable.

The clash with the Faithful County will have been good preparation for Cork’s next challenge – with the prize for victory at Semple Stadium a place in the All-Ireland quarter-finals.

Damien Cahalane is handed a Championship debut for Cork while Eoin Cadogan, Niall McCarthy and Luke O’Farrell are all named to start in the Rebels’ lineup as well.

Wexford, who narrowly lost to Offaly in Leinster, will arrive in Thurles on the back of two home wins (over Westmeath and Carlow) in the qualifiers.

They will go to Semple as underdogs against a Cork team who are on the up and that tag will mean that they can play without the burden of expectation on them.

Diarmuid Lyng will start at midfield for the Leinster men, while Stephen Banville, Paul Roche and Jack Guiney also come back into Liam Dunne’s side.

It looks like being a tight game to call but Cork’s strength in depth should see them through.
