Cork fullback, Michael Shields has been speaking to the Irish Examiner about his search for a job.
The player, who joined a number of his teammates on the Late Late Show last month to speak about the problem of unemployment among GAA players, insists that he does not deserve special treatment because of his status as a Cork footballer.
“I won’t lie, it is tough. But I’m not the only one there, there’s plenty other normal fellas in the same position. I’m no different to anyone else. Luckily I don’t have too many problems in the sense that I don’t have a family or kids.
“They’re the fellas in bigger trouble than me and in a tougher situation. There’s a few from my class in college in the same position and there’s a few more gone away.”
