It was business as usual for the minor Hurlers of Clare as they began the defence of their ESB Munster MHC with a straight forward win over hapless Kerry.
Last year’s All-Ireland runners-up Clare made sure there was no slip up’s as they won out by a whopping 31 points at Austin Stack Park last night.
Oisin Hickey was top scorer for Clare with 3-1 as the Banner boys eased into the semi-finals. Kerry had threatened to initially make a game of and actually led by 1-2 to 0-4 thanks after 13 minutes however once Hickey grabbed the first goal of his hat trick on 23 minutes there was no looking back.
Alan Mulready with two goals and another from Shane O’Donnell saw Clare run out 6-24 to 1-8 winners. Tougher tests will follow.
