Cork defender Jamie O’Sullivan has admitted that he faces a fight to retain his place on the starting fifteen, despite his man of the match performance in the league final against Dublin.
O’Sullivan had been a regular in the starting lineup last year right up until the All-Ireland semi final, and returned to the edge of the square for this year’s league final, when Eoin Cadogan was suspended.
The Bishopstown clubman is fully aware that that he can’t rest on his laurels and knows that it will not be easy to retain his place in the side for the championship.
“I’m just looking to make the panel for the first championship match, and if I can get into the team, I’ll be happy out,” said O’Sullivan.
“It was nice to retain the league title, and Dublin were always going to bring savage intensity, but we knew if we stuck to our game plan the cracks might start to appear as they tired.”
