Kilkenny deepening injury crisis look set to mean a recall for Martin “Gorta” Comerford. The 32 year old had looked set to walk quietly away from inter county hurling scene but the O’Laughlin Gael’s forward will instead be asked to revive Kilkenny’s season and drive them in their quest for another All Ireland.
Brian Coady has seen his squad stretched this year as injuries and suspensions take their toll. Aidan Fogarty, Michael Fennelly and long term absentee Henry Shefflin are all out at the moment through injury while John Dalton and Eoin Larkin both received suspensions following incidents in the League final defeat to Dublin.
With less than five weeks to before Kilkenny begin the search for their 5th title in 6 years Brian Coady’s squad is wafer thin at the moment and the return of Comerford would be a massive boost to the cats.
Kilkenny will open their campaign against one of Wexford, Antrim or Laois
