Irish Handball legend Paul Brady may be forced to retire from the game, having sustained a serious finger injury.
The multiple World and Irish champion, who also plays senior football with Cavan, picked up the injury during a club football game when his ring finger got caught in an opponent’s jersey. Although the player has had an operation and had two pins inserted in his finger, it appears the operation has not been a success.
“I’m very depressed with my situation at present and I’m wondering if I will ever get back to handball or football,” Brady told the Irish News.
“I don’t think I will ever be able to straighten my finger again. I hope to get the pins out this week and maybe things will become clearer after that. Luckily, the damage is on my left hand because, if it was on my right hand, I just couldn’t do anything.”
