The 2011 European Hurling Championship will be decided at the final tournament of the year in Leuven, Belgium, this Saturday July 23rd.
Although the 2009 and 2010 Champions Belgium GAA are hosts, this year the title rests between Den Haag and Zurich. Den Haag won their first tournament on home soil in April and followed it up with victory in Budapest in May. However, Zurich recovered and claimed a victory as hosts in their own tournament against Den Haag in June. All of which has set up the winner takes all tie this Saturday in the sports grounds of the Catholic University of Leuven.
The home side will be hoping to cause an upset but it should ultimately come down to a battle between Den Haag and Zurich. It is the first time in over five years that the championship will come down to the final tournament of the season.
The Camogie tournament will feature 2010 and 2011 champions Belgium GAA,who are attempting a clean sweep of tournaments on home turf.They will take on the challenge of Luxembourg, Zurich and Paris. The Belgian ladies have already won the 2011 title, winning the Den Haag, Budapest and Zurich tournaments to date.
