Cork Suffer Further Blow

Updated: December 2, 2011

Following the news of John Miskella’s retirement yesterday, Cork have received further bad news with the announcement that experienced left-corner back Anthony Lynch has also taken the decision to hang up his boots, according to reports on The Journal.

During his long career, the 34-year-old experienced the bittersweet feeling of appearing in three All-Ireland finals only for the trophy to elude him on each occasion.

However, much to his delight, he eventually got his hands on an All-Ireland winners medal, after he was an unused sub in Cork’s hard fought triumph over Down in 2010.

Lynch received two All Stars and also featured in two International Rules series during his career, but suffered a succession of injuries that limited his involvement with the Cork side during the latter half of his career.
