UUJ 2-19 Carlow IT 1-8

UUJ booked their ticket to the Sigerson Cup semi-finals with a one sided victory over Carlow IT at Belfield on Thursday.

The Jordanstown side were always in control of this game and had victory secured well before the final whistle. Led by their excellent half-back line of Kevin Dyas, Donal Morgan and Ciaran McGinley, UUJ brushed aside their opponents with ease and signaled their intent on winning this competition.

Peter Hughes, Conor McManus and Diarmuid McNulty led the way up front, as the Ulster side racked up a tally of 1-3 inside the opening five minutes of the game. Craig Rogers scored a goal for Carlow from a penalty in the seventh minute, but it only delayed the inevitable and UUJ led by 1-10 to 1-5 at the interval.

Jordanstown meant business after the restart and hit nine points without reply which effectively ended the contest. Donnelly (2), Hughes(2), Niall Holly, McManus, Colm Murney, McGinley and Caolan O’Boyle all added their names to the scoresheet in this period of total dominance.

Ben Brosnan finally got Carlow off the mark in the 56th minute, but Jason McAnulla completed the rout for UUJ in the final minute as he added their second goal of the afternoon.
