Bord na Mona O’Byrne Shield Final
Sunday 29th January:
Wexford v Laois, 2.30pm, Wexford Park

Laois and Wexford will battle it out for the O’Byrne Shield with both sides looking to build some confidence with some early season silverware.

The two sides took very different routes to through the semi final stage with Laois strolling to a comfortable eight point victory over DIT while Wexford needed extra time to defeat Kildare.

Substitute Paudie Kelly was the hero that day, victory a boost for a county undergoing somewhat of a financial crisis at the minute.

Croke Park is rumoured to be considering stepping in to solve the mess that is Wexford GAA after the County Board revealed Wexford had exceeded its allocation by half a million euro last year.

With this in mind manager Jason Ryan will be looking for a morale boosting victory in this clash.

To achieve this goal the onus will be on the free taking of Shane Roche to keep the scoreboard ticking over.

For Laois the key will be to get off to a faster start than they managed against the Students last week. Senior players such as Ross Munnelly and Pauric Clancy will be the key for them.
