Dublin to appeal McCarthy red card

Dublin will appeal against the red card issued to James McCarthy in Saturday’s abandoned match between Dublin and Mayo.

The GAA confirmed the red card will stand, despite the match being called off at half-time.

McCarthy was sent off after his arm connected with Alan Freeman and Dublin believe the contact was incidental.

In the Sun, Chairman Andy Kettle said: “We understand the red card stands despite the game being abandoned. And, yes, we will appeal it.”
