Séan Kelly MEP presented Buzz Aldrin with a Kerry GAA jersey at the EU’s science conference in Brussels on Tuesday.
“In officially launching the biggest ever EU science conference in the European Parliament today,” said Kelly, MEP, in Brussels. “I would like to quote what our special guest and former NASA Astronaut, Buzz Aldrin, has said regarding science and innovation – ‘the only limit to what we can achieve lies in the limits of our imagination’.
“As the second man to ever walk on the moon, he is a hugely inspirational figure and that is our aim here this week – to inspire our greatest minds to seek out even more ambitious advancements for the human race,” Sean Kelly MEP said in Brussels today (Tuesday).
The Ireland South MEP is hosting the five-day conference on EU Science: Global Challenges, Global Collaboration this week in association with the Irish Council Presidency.
In welcoming Mr Aldrin to the Parliament, Mr Kelly presented him with a very special gift of a Kerry GAA jersey which the former Astronaut gratefully received.
