Waterford hurler Eddie Barrett has been ruled out his county’s Munster SHC quarter final replay against Cork on Sunday after dislocating his knee. Barrett was forced off the pitch after 21 minutes of the first fixture against the Rebels with the injury which will keep him out of action for two months.
The De La Salle man has been told by the specialist that if the injury reoccurs, he will have to undergo surgery and subsequently be ruled out for the rest of the season.
Barrett revealed to the Examiner how the injury occurred.
“It was the way I landed. Someone gave me a bang in the back of the knee. The last time it happened was six years ago and this time, Tadhg said he’s going to chance not having an operation and try to let it set.”
“It would be wicked disappointing to miss out for the whole year and I was happy when he said leave it set.”
“I can’t work for the next couple of weeks, which is a killer, but it could be worse.”
