Carlow and Offaly meet in Dr Cullen Park at 2pm on Monday afternoon, in the third round of Division 1B of the Allianz National Hurling League.
The home side are in desperate need of the points here and nothing short of a win will suffice.
John Meyler has brought about tremendous improvement in Carlow and their opening two matches have been very good. The side have shown plenty of ability and the results will come.
A defeat to Wexford was unfortunate as Carlow led for most of the game, while a three point loss to Limerick was a very credible performance. The winners are the strongest side in the section and look like being promoted. Carlow need to win a game or two soon if they are to stay in this division but their form to date suggests they can do so.
Offaly lost to Dublin in their opening match but played really well and could have at least earned a draw. They recovered to beat Wexford last weekend and a win against Carlow should see them safe.
Offaly’s Sean Ryan is selected to start at left corner forward, as Cathal Parlon and James Mulrooney get central attacking roles.
Monday’s mid-field pairing sees Joe Bergin (Seir Kieran) link up with Coolderry’s Brian Carroll. Carlow TBC.
