Ahead of this weekend’s much-anticipated All-Ireland senior football quarter-finals, Donegal have named their side to take on Mayo.
They made the call to release the team sheet on Thursday morning, a full three days ahead of the big match.
Of course, it’s sure to be a massive occasion for both sides in a replay of last year’s All-Ireland final.
Over 12 months ago, Donegal stormed to victory over Mayo after they stole two lightning-quick goals in the early stages.
This year, it seems that the roles have been reversed as it’s the men from Connacht who seem the most potent side ahead of the big game.
Provided the Connacht champions don’t let themselves down and can keep motoring just as they have been, they should have enough in the tank to topple the current champions.
In a story published in the Irish Independent on Thursday, Donegal’s starting XV was revealed, as follows:
Donegal – P Durcan; P McGrath, N McGee, E McGee; F McGlynn, K Lacey, A Thompson; N Gallagher, R Kavanagh; R Bradley, R McHugh, David Walsh; P McBrearty, M Murphy, C McFadden.
The only change made from their victory Laois is the inclusion of Karl Lacey at the expense of Declan Walsh.
Donegal are 13/2 with Boylesports to complete a second successive All-Ireland.
