Cyril Donnellan has emerged as a major injury worry for Galway ahead of their All-Ireland semi final next month.
The half forward has his arm in a sling after chipping a bone during a training match between the senior and intermediate teams last week.
However Galway are not panicking over the injury yet and are confident they will have the Pádraig Pearses’ man back in time for that vital match against either Cork or Waterford on 12 August.
The injury was confirmed on Monday and medical staff believe he will recover in time for Galway’s date with destiny even though the sling won’t be removed until next week.
Galway Hurling Board chairman Joe Byrne told the Irish Independent: “He got a belt on the arm at training but we think he will be fine. That’s the advice anyway.”
