Kilkenny legend DJ Carey today ruled out the possibility of his applying for the vacant Waterford Manager’s job, following last month’s resignation of Michael Ryan.
Earlier this week it had been mooted that the Abbeyside-Ballinacourty club were proposing to nominate him but for now anyway Carey is not interested.
“I thought about it but it’s not for me at this stage. I was flattered to be approached but it just wasn’t a runner for me and, in fairness to all concerned, it’s best to come straight out and say that.
“I would not want to in any way interfere with the process of Waterford appointing a team manager by leaving my name in for a job that I couldn’t take anyway at this point”, he told ‘The Irish Independent’.
Carey is tied up with business and other sporting concerns at this time and thus is not in a position to allow his name to go forward just now.
The Waterford County Board recently confirmed Peter Queally and Derek McGrath are the nominations to be the next Waterford hurling boss
