Galway captain Paul Conroy will miss the Connacht SFC clash with London at Ruislip on Sunday. The St James’ midfielder suffered a hairline fracture in his right metatarsal and will have to sit out the encounter with Paul Coggins’ London.
The captain’s armband will likely be handed to Tuam Stars centre back Gary O’Donnell in Conroy’s absence.
Conroy has worsened Galway’s mounting injury problem which is causing manager Alan Mullholland major selection headaches. Finian Hanley, Sean Armstrong and Joss Moore are all doubts for the London match while goalkeeper Tom Healy will sit out the game suspended. Manus Breathnach is expected to step in for Healy who was sent off in the second half of Galway’s league fixture against Monaghan.
Galway have played three challenge matches since the Monaghan game, defeating Westmeath but coming out second best against Meath and Cavan.
A win for the Tribesmen will see them book a provincial semi-final against Sligo on June 21.
