Kerrigan receives two match suspension

Updated: February 7, 2012

Cork forward Paul Kerrigan has been given a two match suspension after he was sent off against Armagh in the league opener.

The 25 year old was given a straight red card from referee Syl Doyle for attempting to headbutt Armagh defender Finian Moriarty.

A new disciplinary system has seen match bans replace time bans. Instead of an eight week suspension for a Category Three infraction, Kerrigan will miss Cork’s next two matches.

Cork are likely to appeal against the decision, however.

Rebels managers Conor Counihan said, “I hаd a hοnеѕtlу ехсеllеnt view οf іt. I rесkοn іt wаѕ thе linesman whο mаdе thе сhοісе under a сеrtаіn amount οf duress. Thаt’s іt. I’d bе far more interested іn whаt more rational people wουld mаkе οf іt.”
