Shamrocks are the undisputed kings of Kilkenny hurling over the past 30 years and with inter-county legends Henry Shefflin, TJ Reid and Michael Fennelly in their ranks it’s easy to see why they routinely challenge for county titles year-on-year. They have amassed 13 titles from 13 county finals since 1978.

Their opponents Dicksboro have to go back to 1993 for their last Kilkenny title and before that it was 1950 so they should be making up for lost time.

Dicksboro defeated last year’s champions James-Stephens two weeks ago in an enthralling semi-final and will be now on the hunt for Ballyhales scalp. That said, the Knocktopher side have been in impressive form all the championship and showed their class with a comprehensive demolition of O’Loughlin Gales in the semi-final.

Verdict: Ballyhale Shamrocks
