Ballymun’s victory in the Dublin county final over Kilmacud was no less emotional, with the north Dublin side defeating Crokes by a point to win their first title in 27 years.
Ballymun are heavy favourites to advance to the semi-finals, however, now that Mullingar have removed the spectre of their great rivals from their line of vision, the challenges that lie ahead for them in Leinster may not seem so great in comparison to the one they have just gotten past.
