Kildare stalwarts Sarsfields have just won their 22nd title while Louths St. Patrick’s have already beaten Offaly side Rhode in the first round of the Leinster championship and, will be confident facing the more experienced Sarsfields who reached the finals in 1999 and 2005.

Louth midfielder Paddy Keenan is central to the Lordship side’s hopes, and Sarsfields will surely have a game-plan aimed at curbing his significant influence around the middle.

Both teams are competitive and hungry but St. Patricks will feel they have nothing to lose going into this game, while Sarsfields has been here before and knows what it takes to go further in the championship.

Verdict: Sarsfields
