Portlaoise have won the last six Laois county titles, and won Leinster titles in 2004 and 2009. They have a number of inter-county names in their team, and are an experienced bunch at this level.

St. Patrick’s are not at the same level as Portlaoise footballing wise, but they are a plucky outfit who showed true grit to land the Wicklow crown a few weeks ago after an epic battle with Baltinglass. They followed that up with a solid win over Carlow champions Éire Óg in the Leinster first round.

If St. Patricks can perform to their potential they could cause the O’Moore men some problems, however, it would be a real shock to the AIB club championship if they were to knock-out Portlaoise.

Verdict: Portlaoise
