Limerick and Antrim meet in the Gaelic Grounds at 2pm on Sunday afternoon. This game will go a long way towards deciding the outcome of Division 1B, as these are two of the stronger sides in this section.
The Treaty side reached the playoff final last season and only just lost out to Clare. John Allen and his men will feel that nothing short of promotion will do in 2013, and a win this afternoon will go a long ways towards achieving that ambition.
Form
Limerick were runners up in this section last season, before going on to put up decent performances against Tipperary and Kilkenny in the All Ireland series. John Allen would have been more than satisfied with his first year in charge and there is certainly plenty to look forward to in the coming months. Antrim were surprisingly beaten by Westmeath in Leinster, before losing out to Limerick in the Qualifiers.
Team News
Shane Dowling and Graeme Mulcahy, who were in great form for Munster in their Inter Provincial semi final win, scoring 2-9 between them, are named in the Limerick side. Neil McManus, who captained Ulster for the Inter Provincial’s last weekend will skipper the Saffrons this season.
Players To Watch
Adrian Breen is certainly one to watch on the Limerick team this season, while Matthew Donnelly is the Antrim star.
Betting Advice
Limerick are unbackable at 1/50, but at 10/11 minus 14 points, they are worthy of a small interest.
