Cavan’s Martin Dunne has been ruled out of action for at least a month after suffering fractures in his hand and wrist.

Dunne sustained the injuries during a pre-match brawl in an Ulster SFC clash with Armagh on Sunday. The melee ignited when Armagh lined up behind the Cavan flag prior to the pre-match lap with the St Michael’s Scout Band. When Cavan players tried to move the Armagh team behind their own flag, the brawl broke out.

It has not been confirmed how Dunne picked up the injuries in the brawl but it is rumoured that he was stepped on during skirmish. The incident is being investigated.

The Cavan forward underwent a CT scan in Santry Sports Clinic yesterday to find out the full extent of the injuries. The results of the scan confirm that he will face a considerable amount of time on the sidelines for his county.

Cavan play Westmeath at home in the first round of the qualifiers on Saturday June 21.
