Its bad news for Mayo GAA fans with their county board issuing a statement this morning revealing that star forward Cillian O’Connor has suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder.
O’Connor dislocated his shoulder last September when playing for his club Ballintubber and it is believed he has suffered the same injury, and now faces a huge race against time for September 22nd All-Ireland final against Kerry or Dublin. He would be a huge loss considering he has scored 6-14 in just over three hours play this year.
“During today’s All Ireland Senior Football Championship Semi-Final against Tyrone in Croke Park, Cillian O’Connor suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder on the same shoulder injured last year. Cillian was removed to the Mater Hospital immediately and treated by the specialists. Cillian will be closely monitored by the Mayo Senior Football Team Medical Staff over the coming days. We all wish Cillian the very best and a speedy recovery and hopefully we will see Cillian back wearing the Mayo jersey again before too long.
Also today, during the Minor Football Championship Semi-Final against Monaghan in Croke Park, wing-forward Cian Hanley suffered a fractured Collar Bone. Cian was also removed to the Mater Hospital where he also was treated by the specialists. Cian will be monitored by the medical staff and we also wish him a speedy recovery.”
