Munster GAA: Clare, Cork and Kerry get the 2012 McGrath Cup under way

The preliminary round of the McGrath Cup gets under way next weekend with three preliminary round fixtures as 11 teams will compete this year, five third level colleges joining the county football teams.

Kerry, who didn’t take part last year, will begin this year’s competition against Tralee IT on Saturday before holders Cork face Cork IT and 12 time winners Clare face Limerick IT in the Sunday fixtures.

The quarter finals will be played out on Sunday January 13th as below with the semi finals the following Sunday and the final on Sunday January 27th.

SATURDAY JANUARY 5TH
Kerry v IT Tralee
Venue: Fitzgerald Stadium Killarney @ 2:00pm
Referee: Keith O’Brien (Tipperary)
Winners face UCC on Sunday January 13th at 2.00pm in Venue TBC

SUNDAY JANUARY 6TH
Clare v Limerick Institute of Technology
Venue: Miltown-Malbay @ 2:00pm
Referee: James Bermingham (Cork)
Winners face Limerick on Sunday January 13th at 2.00pm in Limerick

Cork v Cork Institute of Technology
Venue: Cork IT GAA Grounds @ 2:00pm
Referee: Eddie Walsh (Kerry)
Winners face Tipperary on Sunday January 13th at 2.00pm in Venue TBC

The other quarter final sees Waterford face UL in Waterford on Sunday January 13th at 2.00pm.
