Ballyhale Shamrocks could afford to miss two Henry Shefflin penalties and still be crowned Kilkenny champions.

Dicksboro stayed with Ballyhale all the way and only trailed by 2 points at the interval but Ballyhale’s experience at this level and that extra bit of class saw them over the line with a 0-16 to 0-12 win.

The Munster final has been decided after both favourites came through tricky encounters in their respective semi-finals.

Thurles Sarsfields had Lar Corbett and Richie Ruth to thank whose goals helped the Tipperary kingpins overcome their Cork namesakes by 2-20 to 2-15. Lar Corbett’s goal after the opening ten minutes was a stunning solo effort.

It took an injury time goal for De La Salle to snatch a victory against Newmarket on Fergus in an extremely closely fought encounter. The teams were never more than two points apart until John Keane broke Clare hearts in the dying seconds to seal it for the Waterford club.
