The Open Championship has finally gotten underway this morning, with a few of the lesser-known performers already taking to the course at Muirfield.
Of course, many of the big guns won’t get started until later on in the day, with Northern Irish hopeful, Rory McIlroy set to tee-off at 9:44. He will be hoping that he can churn out a good performance over the course of the next four days as he is looking to put behind what’s been a poor 2013 to date.
Interestingly, McIlroy hasn’t won any trophy this season and he’s found it difficult to find his rhythm. The 24 year-old will be keen of grabbing his first success of the year at Gullane, particulalrly with Tiger Woods going into the tournament with a slight elbow injury. All in all, McIlroy doesn’t have anything to lose this week by giving it all in an effort to lift the Claret jug.
Slightly before McIlroy, gets his title surge underway, another hopeful, Justin Rose will tee-off at 9:11.
However, pre-tournament favourite, Tiger Woods doesn’t tee-off until much later in the day alongside Phil Mickelson, and they’ll be hitting the first fairway at approximately 14:56.
