Work is set to begin shortly on a new £100m golf course development near the famous Giant’s Causeway in County Antrim, after a judge gave the go ahead for the controversial project.
According to reports on RTE, Mr Justice Weatherup dismissed a legal challenge by the National Trust, which claimed the project could have a serious impact on the UNESCO designated world heritage site. More than ten years after the first planning application was lodged, the High Court judge in Belfast agreed with last year’s decision by Northern Ireland’s Minister of Environment Alex Attwood to approve the development of a championship golf course and five-star hotel.
The new course will be built just outside the small village of Bushmills, Co Antrim, about 2km from the Causeway, one of the country’s main tourist attractions.
