This year’s coveted National Senior 680kgs Tug of War Title is going to be a power packed event. This event is to run on Sunday 15th July in the back yard of the current favourites in County Mayo.
Last year Ireland retained the European 680 kg Tug of War title with the use of nine powerful men across four different clubs. In Boniconlon County Mayo these men will wear their respective club jerseys and each will be leaving nothing to spare so as to complement their European title with a National 680kgs title in less than 12 months.
The event is co hosted by The Grove and Lakehill Tug of War clubs. The Lakehill Club has a number of wins at this grade, up until then Boley Club of County Wexford travelled to Mayo last year and snatched the title from under their noses. Connaught is full of Tug of war talent and little goes on there without the Gortletteragh Club having their say. It could be said that Boley and Lakehill might be underestimating the competitiveness of the men of Leitrim. This is a must see event.
The Ladies 3rd round of the National League 405kgs/ 435kgs will also take place on the day as well as the youths 2nd round 450kgs and with the fabulous success of both Ladies and Youths Tug of War development in recent years this promises to be a well attended very competitive series.
Further information upto and after the event can be got from www.irishtugofwar.com. The Tug of War begins at 1.30pm – why not go along and support your favourites?
