Conor Niland’s quest to qualify for the main draw of Wimbledon will have to wait for another day after his clash with Croatian Nikola Mektic was suspended due to rain.

The 29 year old Limerick man will take a 4-2 lead in the first set when play resumes tomorrow.

Niland made a superb start to the game when he broke Mektic in the first game and looked to be posing a threat to Mektic serve, coming close in the 5th game to another break, when rain put a stop to proceedings.

The clash will resume on Saturday morning with Mektic to serve.

Sportsnewsireland.com will have live score updates on all GAA Championship matches over the summer.
