Rory McIlroy is Golf’s new number one after he claimed his sixth career title with victory at the Honda Classic.
The Northern Ireland man held off the challenge of former number one Tiger Woods to win in Florida and claim top spot from Luke Donald.
Leading by two ahead of Harris English after the third round, McIlroy carded a final round 69 to finish 1 under for the day and 12 under for the tournament.
Woods meanwhile finished in a tie for second alongside English, who like McIlroy shot a 69, after he shot an 8-under-par 62.
Woods round included an eagle at the final hole, his second of the day, to finish on 10 under par for the tournament.
The round was his lowest final-round score in a U.S. PGA Tour event however it wasn’t enough to prevent him from claiming a first PGA title since 2009.
Lee Westwood finished fourth after a final round 63 saw him finished on 8 under however the day belonged to McIlroy.
