Rory McIlroy dropped five shots in the last ten holes  and then went on to lose  a four way play-off at the Honda Classic at Palm Beach Gardens in Florida.

McIlroy told pgatour.com: “I didn’t play well enough to deserve to win today. It’s very disappointing. It was a perfect opportunity to win. No one was really coming at me.

“There’s a few positives to take, but obviously it’s going to be hard to get over because I had a great chance to win my first tournament of the season and I didn’t.

“It’s tough to take at the minute but I’ll sleep it off tonight and get back at it.”

Woods who shot his best round of the year, a 5-over 65 on Saturday was 5-over for the day when he quit after making par on the 13th hole. According to Glenn Greenspan, his spokesman, the spasms started Sunday morning during warmups.

“I’ll get treatment every day to try to calm it down,” Woods said through Greenspan, not speculating on whether he will play the WGC Cadillac Championship at Doral later this week.

“Too early to tell. Don’t know yet,” he said. “I’ll wait til Thursday and see how it feels. It’s basically the same feeling it was at Barclays.”

Russell Henley ripped a 5-wood to 40 feet away on the green for a two-putt birdie that was good enough to win when McIlroy, Ryan Palmer and Russell Knox could only make par.

“So the next time, I just said, ‘All these guys are probably going to make birdie.’ And I just needed to trust my swing and put the best swing I can on it and not be too worried about where it goes,” Henley said.
