Rory McIlroy remembers times he represented Ireland as he chooses Ireland for 2016 Rio Olympics

Rory McIlroy will represent Ireland at the 2016 Rio Olympics. The County Down native made his decision as he prepares for the Irish Open, at Fota Island in Cork this weekend.

“I’ve been thinking about the decision a lot and remembered all the times I represented Ireland as an amateur,” he said ahead of the Irish Open. It brings an end to the speculation of whether McIlroy would represent Ireland or Great Britain& NI  in Rio but at a press conference this afternoon he put and end to the rumours.
