Rory McIlroy’s letter to young fan is Class personified

The young man caught the eagle ball that sent the Irishman on his way to FedEx Cup glory.

In today’s feel-good sports story of the day, a photo of a letter penned by none other than Rory McIlroy to a young fan has been revealed.

After McIlroy had just holed one of the shots of his career on the 16th in the Atlanta sunshine, essentially setting himself up for FedEx glory and the $10 million prize that came with it, the ball in question was thrown into the gallery.

It was here that the now-famous youngster caugh McIlroy’s ball, taking home a special piece of history to go along with the incredible letter he has since received.

The Down-native’s classy note, addressed personally to young man Brady, congratulated him on getting his hands on the ball before any of the adults surrounding him, as well as containing a touching sentiment, reminding youngsters that ‘doing your best is really what’s most important.’

The letter, shared today on Twitter by a friend of Brady’s Uncle, has since gone viral for all the right reasons.
