Aidan O’Brien named Philips Ireland manager of the month

Philips Ireland have named Aidan O’Brien, Ballydoyle Stables as Manager of the Month for June 2014.

On the 7th June his colt Australia won the 235th Epsom Derby making him the first trainer in Derby history to win the Classic three years running. The victory also gives him five winners in the race and within sight of eclipsing the all-time record of seven winners.

On the 19th June his mount Leading Light won the Ascot Gold Cup by a narrow margin giving the stable a double after Bracelet came home a 10-1 winner of the Ribblesdale Stakes.

Then on the 28th June in the Irish Derby in the Curragh 1-8 favourite Australia eased to a straightforward victory to give O’Brien his eleventh win in the race. Kingfisher and Orchestra gave the Ballydoyle stable a 1-2-3.

Further wins for Fountain of Light, Venus De Milo, Fountain of Youth, I am Beautiful, Ernest Hemingway and Mekong River made June a very successful month for the Ballydoyle stables.
