Famous Name Bids for 20th Graded Race Win at Leopardstown this Saturday

The Dermot Weld-trained Famous Name is looking to win his 20th graded race and his 13th at Leopardstown when he lines up for the Trigo Stakes at 5pm tomorrow. He has already won no fewer than 13 Group races during his career to date.

Famous Name’s full sister Big Break also runs in the JRA Killavullan Stakes, an impressive winner of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden on Red Mills Irish Champion Stakes Day. However, she won’t have it all her own way tomorrow as Aidan O’Brien runs Magician fresh from his six-length win in the Curragh and Jim Bolger, whose two year olds are in such great form, runs Beyond Thankful.

The JRA Killavullan Stakes has produced two Classic winners in the past decade. Grey Swallow went on to win the Irish Derby and Footstepsinthesand won the English 2000 Guineas. Given the quality of the entries, there may well be another future Classic winner in tomorrow’s race.

The first race is at 2.10pm.
