The seven race card at Fairyhouse on Wednesday gets under way at 1.55, where Dermot Weld’s Waaheb bids to book his Cheltenham ticket as he aims for victory in the Visit fairyhouse.ie For Special Offers Hurdle.
Dermot Weld’s classy hurdler bids prove himself in the opening contest at 1:55. His recent form saw him finish second to Jezki at Leopardstown over the Christmas period, but he then fell early in the race on his most recent outing. AP McCoy makes the trip over from Britain to ride in Fairyhouse tomorrow and there is little doubt that Waheeb was a major factor in enticing the champion jockey over to these shores. Recent winner Art Of Logistics is likely to put up a fight but Waaheb looks the class act in the field.
Ma Belle Amie is the interesting contender in the Easter 31st March To 2nd April Mares Maiden Hurdle at 2:25. Her recent second to Speckled Wood shows she has ability and is the one to beat. She has had plenty of chances in these types of contests but tomorrow she should be involved in the finish if running to her mark 108. Jewel Star never looked dangerous on her debut when finishing fourth in an ordinary heat in Killarney, but improvement can be expected under AP McCoy.
Norah Starr arrives here in the Follow Us On Twitter Novice Handicap Hurdle at 2:55 on the back of a recent second behind Summer Star in a decent mares handicap at Leopardstown which saw her finish in front of recent winner Blazing Sonnet (rated 103). She is sure to have her supporters tomorrow of a low weight. Kilmainham seems to pose the biggest threat.
Ruby Walsh’s presence on Bobsthewizard certainly catches the eye in the Ladbrokes Punter Package Handicap Hurdle at 3:55. The course winner ran well last time after a layoff and could be good value tomorrow to improve from that run, although the trip is a negative. Western Man under AP McCoy and the consistent Mini Budget seem the biggest threats to Fran Floods charge.
Sizing Chile makes the most appeal in the Buy Easter Tickets On tickets.ie Flat Race at 4:55. Blackmail got the better of Willie Mullins’ charge when he made his debut at Leopardstown , but that rival had previously shaped with promise on two separate occasions. Mullins’ charge was well fancied on his debut and would be entitled to have improved since his introduction.
Each-way value of the day
A decent each way chance could lie in the locally trained Another Tempest in the 2:55 race. Lady Fowler’s mare does not seem to be the most consistent sort but off a low weight and in first time cheekpieces she could well prevail on her handicap debut at a decent morning price.
