Edward Lynam’s Sylvan Mist is likely to be popular with the punters tomorrow in the opener, Light Up Your Night Maiden, which gets under way at 5.50.
Lynam’s three-year old showed improvement over 7f here last week when third and but the drop to 6f is a danger and could possibly catch her out. Danger comes from Muizenberg Nights. Tommy Stack’s newcomer is a well bred sort and is a half sister to eight winners including Lady Wingshot, who had a great campaign over seven furlongs for Jim Bolger last year winning the Group 3 Fairy Bridge Stakes at Tipperary. This is not a very strong maiden and Tommy Stacks filly could get punters off to a solid start at the Louth venue.
Bangalore Diamond takes his chances in the second race the Floodlit Friday Nights At Dundalk Rated Race at 6:20. This is perhaps the best bet of the night. Tom McCourt’s charge is a dual course and distance winner and just failed to follow up the latest of those victories when touched off a fortnight ago. This horse just did what was required to win on his latest victory but on watching that run he still a bit in the tank. Ian Brennan is taking off a valuable three pounds and this horse looks set for victory tonight at a price which represents value.
An interesting race is in store in the Follow Dundalk On Facebook Handicap. Last week’s maiden winner Toccata Blue is sure to be popular tonight but this looks a much tougher task for Ger Lyons’s charge. The two horses of interest are Mick Halfords Senyuman and Adrian McGuinness Elusive Heir. Both these horse are coming from well respected yards and had showed some ability in their maidens. The drop to handicap company is sure to improve both horses. Perhaps Elusive Heir is the one to side with of the two though. McGuinness’s charge was beaten by over nine lengths last week by Toccata Blue. They meet today with weight on his side and his 12/1 price represents serious value.
A horse of interest in the second division of the Crowne Plaza Leading Jockey & Trainer Championship Handicap is Michael Butlers Baffles Brains. This horse caught my on its latest appearance when beaten just under eight lengths here three weeks ago. The horse was drawn 12 that day and never really got in to the horse. He has dropped in the weights since that and tonight looks good value at a very large early price.
