Jim Bolger To Give Dawn Approach Time

Jim Bolger has said that he will take his time before deciding on the next race for beaten Derby favourite Dawn Approach.

The colt went to post a red hot market leader for Saturdays feature race at Epsom, but never settled at any stage, and eventually finished last of the twelve strong field. He was forced to take up the running much earlier than planned and from that point on jockey Kevin Manning was always fighting a losing battle.

Speaking at Chantilly on Sunday, Bolger said: “He got a bang leaving the stalls and I think that set him alight, and with the slow pace then Kevin wasn’t able to get him settled.

“The race was set up for him to win it, had he settled. It didn’t happen. We’ve got to get him home and see how he is, so it will be a couple of weeks (before we see what happens).”

Godolphin and Bolger let a lot of people down on Saturday at 4 pm last , Yes the horse did not settle but ran so poorly and never behaved like that in any previous running the question must be asked was this a freak one off or is there something more sinister? Us punters will never know . One things for sure Dawn Approachs Derby run 2013 will go down in infamy.
