Owner fined for jumping on horse

Updated: January 21, 2012

Winning owner Anthony Knott was fined £100 by Wincanton stewards on Saturday after he jumped aboard his horse as it returned to the winner’s enclosure.

Knott hopped up alongside jockey Nick Scholfield on seven-year-old Hunt Ball, who won the 2m5f handicap chase. Although the owners actions led to cheers from the crowd, the stewards were not impressed and imposed a £100 fine on Knott for improper conduct.

Knott, a farmer from Sturminster Newton, Dorset, caused a stir at the same course when he saluted the crowd in ebullient fashion after winning aboard Wise Men Say in 2009.
