After a 12/1 winner yesterday here are today’s four selections on a busy Saturday across the pond.
2.20 York -
The course specialist and personal favourite of mine Smarty Socks (4/1 Boylesports.com) can strike in this tricky 7 furlong heat for David O Meara and regular pilot Danny Tudhope. The 9 year old gelding is a fantastic handicapper, when he gets his conditions can be very hard beat.
He has won at the track four times, in his two runs this year at York has seen him win and be beaten by a head over a mile, where the distance would have being stretching him. He really is a 7 furlong specialist. He can be slowly away in his races but as long as they don’t go a crawl he will go close here under his favourite conditions. 1 point each way.
3.20 Newmarket -
The bottom weight here Ghasabah (7/4 Boylesports.com) looks an improving filly that can take this step up in class. We pointed her out as a NAP selection last time out at Leicester and she duly delivered looking very impressive streaking away from her rivals in the closing stages.
The trainer last time out pointed out that the he taught the ground would have been to firm for her as he was under the impression that she would be better with a bit of give underfoot. The ground is listed at present as good and with further rain forecast she could be even better and may turn into a very smart filly. 1 point win.
5.00 Ascot -
Street Force (14/1 Boylesports.com) can spring a major surprise in the listed races for 2 year old on the Ascot card. The son of street cry made a promising debut having finishing a close up 4th in a Sandown maiden then he was pitched in a the deep end finishing mid division in the Chesham at the Royal Ascot meeting before running his best race to date when sticking on in a Group 2 contest at Newmarket last time out.
The fact that Clive Britain keeps putting him in these races suggest that is he is highly regarded and can get in the money at a decent price. 1 point each way.
5.05 Newmarket -
Top Notch Tonto (11/2 Boylesports.com) is a horse of huge interest if conditions have any soft in its description. The striking gelding by Thousand Words has ran to credit on his runs this season the best of those was when running over a trip of 10 furlongs for the first time ran a creditable 3rd having travelled very well into the race.
He has since changed stables now in the care of the excellent Brian Ellison and with Silvertse De Sousa in the plate can run a big race as long as the ground has some give in it. The mark he is currently on of 87 looks workable and a big run is expected. 1 point each way.
